It’s Arty Time
VISUAL IDENTITY • PRODUCT APPLICATION
A visual communications school project brief to design a poster and brochure for the Arts and Health program at Ng Teng Fong Hospital.
A playful take on Magritte’s apple-headed figure along with the idiom “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is used to convey the incorporation of art into healthcare. As this program targets a wide range of audience, lively and colourful illustration that could cater to both the young and old is used as the choice of representation. The atmosphere of a “fiesta” is evoked so to emphasise the joyful nature of the activities.
The Arts & Health programme at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital aims to bring creativity into different care and community settings. It offers a range of arts programmes such as visual arts, performing arts, art and music therapies to reduce stress and increase social engagement..
To continue the playful nature of the design, I chose to fold the brochure in a way where it could be flipped on two sides. If placed standing, looked like a three-dimensional peek into this “fiesta”.
The imaging of the poster is translated into a brochure containing information provided by the brief. The brochure unfolds out into a continuous layout of information and matching illustration.
Additional Program Collaterals
Having created a visual identity for the poster and brochure, I applied them to create a set of program collaterals, such as activity booklets and cards, lanyards and button badges.
This extension of environmental graphics was a project pitch to Ng Teng Fong Hospital for their staff gym as part of the Arts&Health program. The brief was to improve staff experience by brightening up the gym with vibrant illustrations/motifs.
